XR - Bundle is fractured in tail region. Skeleton is much smaller than the bundle (skull placed within modelled body, not head region). False head appears to have a radiodense coating which could be resin or gilding. Appears to be an area of soft-tissue or feathers extraneous to the bird, but is included in bundle wrappings (may be tail of another bird). CT - Thin layer (possibly a single layer) of wrappings round bird which appear radiodense (coating of tar, resin, natron?). Bundle is wrapped again to form a more uniform cylindrical shape with what appear to be rolls of bandaging on each side of neck for support. Bundle appears to have then been rewrapped with inclusion of denser material (possibly wax) laid intentionally in a row within the wrappings.

XR/CT - externally bundle is long, but area containing skeletal remains appears to be relatively plump. Tail is long (indicative of cf. Falco sp.) and the beak is protruding from the bandages. Legs are flexed up and claws are not visible (unusual position for a bird). Neck is displaced and residue in chest cavity. Consensus is that it is the skeleton of a falcon, but that it is position strangely within the mummy bundle leading to a slightly elongated appearance on films.
