Description
Plain and tightly wrapped complete bird mummy bundle. The beak is exposed and damaged. The linen wrappings are very dark in colour, likely due to an application of a resinous substance. The bundle is unusually wide below the neck region.

Radiographs show the complete and articulated skeleton of a Falco tinnunculus (Kestrel). CT shows no visible brain matter in the cranial cavity. There is evidence for residual internal organ matter in abdominal cavity. The head is at an oblique angle in the lateral plane resulting in a twisted spinal column. A radiodense object is visible adjacent to the RHS tibiotarsus. Granular substance and linen wrappings across the chest and tucked behind the wings. This individual was mummified in toto - air voids visible in the wing and tail feathers.
