Description
Plain and tightly wrapped complete bird mummy bundle. The bundle is very dark in colouration suggesting the application of a resinous substance.

Radiographs show a complete and articulated skeleton of a mature Falco tinunnculus (Kestrel). A radio-opaque package is visible in the pelvic region and a radiodense area at the femoral-tibiotarsal joint. CT shows there is no visible brain matter in the cranial cavity. There is evidence for residual internal organ matter in abdominal cavity. A radiodense object is visible adjacent to the RHS joint of the tibiotarsus/tarsometatarsus. This individual was mummified in toto - air voids visible in the wing and tail feathers.
